Dear Hawthorne Families,
Welcome back to the 2018-19 school year! I am very excited to be the principal at Hawthorne and I look forward to our partnership throughout the year. I began work at the building on Monday and I have been learning a lot from the amazing staff we are fortunate to have. I can’t wait for the children to arrive; I remember my first days of school as a child being ones of excitement and wonder for the upcoming year!
I wanted to quickly address some of the confusion that has happened. Firstly, let me say that I apologize for the confusion. Any time there is transition in a district or building, there may be some things that get changed or overlooked. Rest assured, I am working diligently with the staff and district administration to ensure that everyone has a solid understanding of what will happen over the next few days.
Our first day of school for students at Hawthorne is Monday, August 27th. The morning class hours are 9:00-11:30 am and afternoon classes are 1-3:30 pm. There have been many requests for changes of placement and we are trying to accommodate all we are able to, but it may be difficult. Again, I ask to please be understanding in this transition period.
Meet the Teacher will be in an open house format and will occur Friday, August 24th from 1:30-3 pm. It is at that time where you are welcome into the building to see your child’s classroom and meet the teacher, regardless of AM/PM placement. I will be here as well to meet you and answer any questions you may have.

¡Bienvenidos al año escolar 2018-19! Estoy muy emocionada de ser la directora en Hawthorne y espero con ansias nuestra colaboración durante todo el año. Empecé a trabajar en el edificio el lunes y he aprendido mucho del increíble personal que tenemos la suerte de tener. No puedo esperar a que lleguen los niños. Recuerdo mis primeros días de escuela siendo un niño emocionado y asombrado por el próximo año.
Quería abordar rápidamente parte de la confusión que ha sucedido. En primer lugar, permítanme decir que me disculpo por la confusión. Cada vez que hay una transición en un distrito o edificio, puede haber algunas cosas que cambien o se pasen por alto. Tenga la seguridad de que estoy trabajando diligentemente con el personal y la administración del distrito para asegurar que todos tengan una comprensión sólida de lo que sucederá en los próximos días.
Nuestro primer día de clases para estudiantes en Hawthorne es el lunes 27 de agosto.
